Steve King just held a press conference to double down on his horrific rape and incest comments — weaponizing traumatic life stories to try and support a total ban on abortion.
I’m truly disgusted. It has been clear for years that Steve King was unfit for office, and yet, somehow he still finds methods of lowering the bar even further. From his support of white supremacy to his inane defense of a total ban on abortion, Steve King is doing everything in his power to drag us all downward.
Making any defense or attempting to justify rape and incest in any form is immediately disqualifying for a member of Congress. His actions have been nothing but an embarrassment to our government, our people, and our fundamental values.
Iowa’s 4th needs a real public servant — a real leader — to represent them. And I couldn’t have been more proud to endorse J.D. Scholten, someone who will not only restore basic dignity to that Congressional seat, but has incredible plans to bring jobs to the community, and truly fight for the working-class people of Iowa.
But Iowa’s 4th is an R+10 seat. We can’t take King’s defeat for granted, even when he displays utterly contemptible judgement, and a willingness to vehemently defend his justifications of rape and incest.
In solidarity,
