Click here ![]() ![]() John, The dams and reservoirs in the Columbia-Snake River Basin pose the main threats to thriving fish and wildlife in this vast river system. Right now, we have an opportunity that comes only twice a decade to push for ecological restoration in the basin: The Northwest Power and Conservation Council is developing a new 5-year Fish and Wildlife Amendment, which will provide funding and projects to help fish and wildlife populations recover. The council must uphold the goal of 5 million adult salmon and steelhead returning annually to the Columbia Basin. The council must also hold Bonneville Power Administration, the operators of the dams, accountable to their legal responsibilities to “protect, mitigate, and enhance” fish and wildlife populations. By taking action, you support the leadership of Northwest states and Tribes to advance salmon and river recovery, improve dam operations, and defend against efforts to undermine progress in rebuilding salmon abundance.
