John,
We’re just over 36 hours from a government shutdown.
Before going on recess, House Republicans passed a partisan funding bill that does nothing to address skyrocketing health care costs, or address the millions of people who are about to lose access to health care as a result of the Big Brutal Bill.
They also failed to rein in the Trump regime’s freezing of hundreds of billions of dollars of funds for our communities.
And then they skipped town, ignoring the need to come together to craft a bipartisan package to avert a shutdown―vowing to not return until after September 30th, after the government may have already shut down.
The last time Democrats agreed to a government funding bill, Trump ignored Congress’ power of the purse―withholding $410 billion in congressionally appropriated funds for mental health services, the Emergency Food Assistance Program, and more.1 They’ve fired thousands of federal workers who play a key role getting resources to local communities―and now they are threatening even more layoffs as a bargaining chip, while refusing to meet with Congressional leaders.
We’re demanding Congress take back its power of the purse and hold the Trump administration accountable. And we’ve organized hundreds of allies from across the country, meeting with Congressional offices to make sure they understand what is at stake and sending tens of thousands of messages to Congress right now.
Power our campaign demanding a bipartisan government funding bill that protects our access to affordable health care and puts critical guardrails on Trump’s authoritarian regime. Rush a donation today!

1 NEW: Weeks Away from End of Fiscal Year, Trump is Blocking $410+ Billion in Funding Owed to Communities Nationwide
-- DEBORAH'S EMAIL --
John,
The U.S. government is on the verge of a shut down, and what is Congress doing?
House Republicans passed a partisan government funding bill that does nothing to address the health care affordability crisis, nor does it take back Congress’ power of the purse. They want to allow the Trump administration to continue freezing and withholding hundreds of billions of dollars from our communities―money for food, schools, substance use and mental health treatment, and more. And then House Republicans skipped town―vowing to not return until at least October 1st, despite their partisan plan not even getting a majority vote in the Senate.
We’re fighting back by organizing allies across the country. Last Thursday, we briefed hundreds of state and local organizations about what is at stake. We’re coordinating meetings with policymakers on both sides of the aisle, making sure they hear from local leaders about the impacts of attacks on basic needs on their communities. And right now, we’re sending tens of thousands of messages to Congress demanding a government funding bill that addresses our health crisis and that holds the Trump regime accountable.
This is a critical moment. We need Democrats to hold strong against a partisan funding bill that ignores our health crisis and this administration’s attacks, and we need Republicans to come to the table and negotiate.
Rush a donation now to power our campaign demanding a government funding bill that puts people first, not partisan politics and an authoritarian regime.

When Republicans passed their Big Brutal Bill, they cut roughly $1 trillion from Medicaid. And, while they were more than happy to hand trillions of dollars in tax cuts to the rich and corporations, they failed to extend the enhanced ACA premium tax credits that have kept health care more affordable for people who get their health insurance through the ACA marketplace.
Health care costs for millions of people are about to skyrocket if Congress does not act now.
Donate today to power our campaign demanding Congress reject a government funding bill that does nothing to rein in health care costs or hold the Trump administration accountable.
