If you have been a longtime supporter of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), you know that FAIR is an essential partner in guiding lawmakers toward the passage of responsible immigration legislation at the federal, state and local levels.
On Capitol Hill, we work with Members of Congress to ensure that any immigration legislation needed to protect the interests of the American public is passed; and that any irresponsible bills that privilege the wants and needs of foreign nationals are soundly defeated. In America’s cities, counties and states, we are working with local legislators to pass ordinances and laws that protect American communities from illegal alien crime and cheap foreign labor.
To remind American politicians at all levels of government exactly whom they serve, FAIR engages in the following legislative activities:
Influencing policy decisions at the federal level, specifically in Congress and within relevant government agencies;
Influencing policy decisions at the state and local level, in bodies ranging from city councils to state legislatures, including state administrative entities;
Drafting legislative memoranda, talking points, backgrounders, floor speeches, etc. that help state and local legislators advance beneficial legislation and oppose harmful propositions;
Testifying as subject matter experts in immigration law and policy before legislative bodies and government agencies in Washington, D.C. and throughout the United States;
Submitting petitions for the issuance, amendment, or repeal of agency rules and regulations that do not benefit American interests; and
Submitting public comments in response to proposed agency rules and regulations to ensure agencies do not exceed their delegated authority, conform to congressional intent, and craft good policy.
So far this year, FAIR has helped to pass 14 laws across the nation to protect our communities. We will continue to work on this crucial front for common sense immigration policies that best serve you and the national interest.
