Fellow Conservative,

Happy Independence Day!

Today we commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the truths enshrined therein.

This is a special 4th of July for us—we have been humbled by your participation and the stories you’ve shared in response to our #ProudAmerican campaign. Now, more than ever, we need patriots reminding their communities what it means to be American. Thank you!

We encourage you to continue this enthusiasm, gratitude, and activism well past the 4th of July.

In the spirit of Independence Day, we would like to share a special video with you from our Heritage Action Sentinels.

  • United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement — President Trump has delivered on a key promise he made to the American people. The USMCA trade deal went into effect on Wednesday, and it couldn't come at a more needed time. USMCA opens markets for more American products, creating jobs and helping Americans return to work. Read more about the historic deal here.
  • SCOTUS Rulings — Both good news and bad news came out of the Supreme Court this past week… we’ll start with the bad news. On Monday, the Supreme Court struck down a Louisiana law that required abortionists to have the same local hospital admitting privileges as those of health providers in the state. The good news: in a big win for school choice, the Supreme Court struck down the application of a Montana law that prevented parents from using privately funded scholarships for their children at religious K-12 schools.
  • House Passes Obamacare ExpansionCheck out our Scorecard to see how your representative voted on this bill stuffed with liberal priorities. H.R. 1425 would establish price controls for prescription drugs, attack free-market alternatives to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) exchanges, and provide a windfall to insurance companies through an expansion of the ACA by broadening eligibility for federal premium subsidies to everyone, regardless of income, while also expanding the size of the subsidies themselves.
  • The Case Against State Bailouts — Liberals continue to push for a federal bailout of state governments. But states like Wisconsin who managed their finances and budgeted for a rainy day should not be forced to bailout states like Illinois, who spent recklessly and ran up unfunded pensions liabilities. Read more from Jessica Anderson.

That’s all for this week. We wish you a proud, enjoyable, and Happy Independence Day!
