Trump Is Never, Ever, Ever Getting a Nobel Peace Prize

There might be no greater evidence of Donald Trump’s malignant narcissism and mental decline than his obsession with not only wanting the award but believing he is deserving of it.

Sing it with me: Trump and a Nobel are never, ever, ever gonna get together! Odds are that Taylor isn’t dumping Travis to reunite with her old beau. It’s an even better bet that, not only will Trump never be awarded the Peace Prize, the Nobel committee wouldn’t even consider having a conversation to consider the possibility that they would consider him for the award.

There might be no greater evidence of Donald Trump’s malignant narcissism and mental decline than his obsession with not only wanting the award but believing he is deserving of it. Calls by Trump’s sycophants to bestow the honor upon him don’t hurt his chances, but only because he has no chance.

It’s not that Trump shouldn’t be named to any exclusive lists. There are plenty for which he is overly qualified … say, national leaders who are convicted felons, sexual abusers, human rights deniers, free speech deniers, men with epically fragile egos, eugenists, racists, or authoritarians…but Alfred Nobel never envisioned awards in those categories.

Company in which Donald John Trump has no business being included is the list of extraordinary humans who have been awarded the Nobel Prize since he won the presidency in 2016:

  • 2024: Nihon Hidankyo (Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organizations) — for activism against nuclear weapons and advocating for a world free of nuclear arms.

  • 2023: Narges Mohammadi (Iran) — for her courageous fight for freedom, women’s rights, and human rights in Iran, and for standing against the oppression of women.

  • 2022: Ales Bialiatski (Belarus), Memorial (Russia), and Center for Civil Liberties (Ukraine) — for representing civil society in their home countries and advancing the right to criticize power and protect citizens’ rights.

  • 2021: Maria Ressa (Philippines) and Dmitry Muratov (Russia) — for their efforts to safeguard freedom of expression, which is a precondition for democracy and lasting peace.

  • 2020: World Food Programme (WFP) — for efforts to combat hunger, bettering conditions for peace in conflict-affected areas, and preventing the use of hunger as a weapon of war.

  • 2019: Abiy Ahmed Ali (Ethiopia) — for his efforts to achieve peace and international cooperation, particularly for resolving the border conflict with Eritrea.

  • 2018: Denis Mukwege (Democratic Republic of Congo) and Nadia Murad (Iraq) — for their efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict.

  • 2017: International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) — for its work to draw attention to the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of nuclear weapons and for efforts to achieve a treaty-based prohibition of such weapons.

  • 2016: Juan Manuel Santos (Colombia) — for his resolute efforts to bring the country’s more than 50-year-long civil war to an end.

Trump seems to believe that inventing conflicts around the globe and claiming to have ended them or attempting to take credit for the resolution of conflicts for which those involved have said he played zero role, justifies his prize.

Apparently, the committee should disregard his desire to prosecute his political enemies, expel people from America without due process, his request that peaceful protestors be shot (but only in the legs, so come on, that’s not so bad, right?), his deployment of the military against U.S. citizens, trampling on the Constitution, defiance of the courts, ignoring our separation of powers and of church and state, and attempts to end free speech.

He appears to believe that tearing health care access, food, and other lifesaving humanitarian programs around the globe with the destruction of USAID would have as little meaning the the Nobel Committee as it has to him. Perhaps he thinks they wouldn’t notice that his domestic policies are enriching the obscenely rich on the back of the most vulnerable citizens.

It is possible that Donald Trump wants the prize because he craves all accolades and has never cared whether his praise or applause was earned or deserved. His pathological selfishness and lack of appreciation for the sacrifices and efforts of others who have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize would be a best-case scenario for why he believes he belongs in their company.

But I suspect it comes from somewhere much darker. Trump places so little value on human life — at least the lives of people who cannot increase his wealth or power — that he’s incapable of conceiving that anyone could feel differently.

Is Trump Actually Getting Tough on Putin? | Anchor Watch with Bobby Jones

Ukraine’s still holding strong against Russia and it’s inspiring. But then there’s Trump, suddenly trying to act tough, tossing out this 50-day deadline for Russia to make peace or else get hit with massive tariffs (his favorite threat). Bobby’s got some real questions about whether that’s actually going to happen or if it’s just Trump doing his usual h…
