Dear friend,
As we celebrate Independence Day during these challenging times, we want to make one thing clear: Access to safe, legal reproductive health care—including abortion—is critical for individuals, families, and communities to live and thrive.
Earlier this week, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in our case, June Medical Services vs. Russo, that Louisiana's clinic shutdown law is unconstitutional. This is a victory for the people of Louisiana and the rule of law, but this ruling will do little to stop the relentless attacks on abortion rights.
While abortion is still legal in all 50 states, anti-abortion lawmakers continue to try to legislate abortion care out of existence—even while Roe remains intact. Abortion is a constitutional right, but that means nothing if you cannot access it. We won't stop fighting until everyone has access to the vital reproductive health care they need and deserve.
We're so grateful to have you standing with us as we continue to fight for our most basic, fundamental liberties on Independence Day, and every day.
In solidarity,
Center for Reproductive Rights
