John, Donald Trump is federalizing the Oregon National Guard to be deployed in Portland — similar to his use of troops in Los Angeles and Washington D.C. — and has authorized the military to use “full force.”
This is a serious threat to Oregon’s autonomy and our citizens.
Governor Kotek struck back immediately. She spoke with both President Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, making it clear that there is no national security threat in Portland and that Oregon should manage its own public safety needs. There is no need for National Guard troops in Portland. Military service members should be dedicated to real emergencies.
“There is no insurrection, there is no threat to national security and no need for federal troops in Portland,” — Oregon Governor Tina Kotek said at the very beginning of a press conference Saturday afternoon (KOIN)

Governor Kotek is fighting back against Trump’s proposal to take control of the Oregon National Guard. She will continue to uphold the rule of law and defend our state from his efforts to stoke division. Will you chip in today to help her keep up the fight?
