Dear Friend,
Good evening, and welcome to our Weekend Update.
Before I begin, I want to reference the horrific act of violence that took place in Michigan this morning. We are still learning details about this violent attack on a church in Grand Blanc. Please read a statement from President Donald J. Trump on the violent attack below. We join him and all Americans in extending our prayers to the victims and their families.
This morning, Shelley and I joined the Tunnels to Towers (T2T) 5K run to honor the legacy of our fallen first responders and service members and to support their families. The work T2T <>does to help families of fallen first responders and wounded warriors is truly incredible and makes a lasting difference. The courage and sacrifice of those who run toward danger to protect others can never be forgotten, and I’m honored to support them.
It is hard not to recall the bravery of these heroes when you literally retrace the exact steps they took that tragic day. They ran towards the danger to help their fellow Americans. Click below to watch me narrate our run this morning.

This afternoon, I joined "Fox Report with Jon Scott" on Fox News to discuss the violent attack in Michigan, the T2T event, and the budget deadline and threat of a Democrat government shutdown. Click here <[link removed]> or below to watch.

This week, I appeared on CNN's "News Central" to discuss the looming budget deadline and why I believe Democrats’ demands are unreasonable. They’re pushing for hundreds of billions in new spending, stripping out commonsense Medicaid work requirements, and making ACA subsidies for wealthy individuals permanent—all while rejecting future cost-saving measures. That’s not responsible governing. We can work together to improve the ACA, but reforms should come after we secure a responsible budget agreement, not as leverage for a shutdown.
I also weighed in on the potential indictment of former FBI Director James Comey. For years, Comey pursued President Trump on the false Steele dossier—something he knew was fueled by political motivation and not credible. (Note: The Comey indictment was issued after this interview was conducted.)
That abuse of power eroded trust in the FBI. If prosecutors believe there is credible evidence, they must follow the law and the U.S. Constitution wherever it leads. Restoring the credibility of our institutions is critical for our country. Click here <[link removed]> or below to watch.

I joined “Fox Across America” on FOX News Radio to discuss key issues facing our country.
We discussed the importance of truth in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s death, the need for American energy dominance, and the crucial role of permitting reform in powering the AI-driven economy of the future.
I also outlined why the Fed must act more decisively to lower rates so we can unleash housing, investment, and growth — and I warned about the reckless path Democrats are on by threatening a government shutdown. Click here <[link removed]> or below to listen.
I joined “Bob Cordaro Show” on WILK-FM to discuss government funding, border security, our economy, and more. The message is clear: we must prioritize the American people over partisan games in Washington. Click here <[link removed]> or below to listen.

IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA: Democrats Press on with Shutdown Threats… Even the Media Isn’t Buying Their Obstruction.
Democrats are threatening to hold government funding hostage to score political points, ignoring the real-world consequences — barreling our country towards a government shutdown if Republicans don’t adhere to their roughly $1.5 trillion wish list.
The American people want to keep their government open — and even the media isn’t buying Democrats’ political posturing.
<[link removed]>Politico reports <[link removed]> Democrats are using the shutdown as political leverage.
“It’s Republicans who are pushing a ‘clean’ seven-week continuing resolution, which they say will buy time for more negotiations on full-year spending bills and possibly an extension of expiring health insurance subsidies. Democrats, meanwhile, wrote an alternative four-week punt that tacks on a laundry list of other demands, including a permanent extension of the insurance subsidies.”
<[link removed]>Senate Democrats are to blame as Congress heads toward a government shutdown, Bloomberg reports <[link removed]>.
“Democrats, unable to slow Trump’s agenda or even garner much media attention for their efforts, are under increasing pressure to risk a shutdown.Schumer in March backed off from a similar threat and allowed 10 Democrats to vote for a temporary spending bill. He is taking a tougher line this time, even as some of the same 10 senators refuse to say how they will vote in the end.”
<[link removed]>The New York Times reports <[link removed]> Democrats are to blame for blocking the GOP bill to fund the government through November.
“Senate Democrats on Friday blocked Republicans’ plan to keep federal funding flowing past a Sept. 30 deadline, demanding concessions on health care and other issues in exchange for their support for a measure needed to avert a government shutdown.”
<[link removed]>The Washington Examiner <[link removed]> reports that Democrats are risking a shutdown in pursuit of their “Democratic wish list of other policies that are non-starters for the GOP.”
“The Republican plan was passed by the House last week but failed to clear a 60-vote filibuster in the Senate. It includes largely extending current funding levels through Nov. 21 to allow appropriators more time to finish a bipartisan annual budget. A Democratic counterproposal would provide funding through October and extend the Obamacare insurance credits, along with a Democratic wish list of other policies that are non-starters for the GOP.”
<[link removed]>The Hill <[link removed]> reports that Democrats say a shutdown is “necessary” to “send a message” to President Trump.
“Democratic senators say that unless Republicans scrap their plan to advance a ‘clean’ seven-week continuing resolution, they don’t see any option other than defeating it as a way to send a ‘message’ to President Trump.”
<[link removed]>Democrats are going to battle over the government shutdown for a “fight with Trump,” CNN reports <[link removed]>.
“Still locked out of power in Washington, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and his party are seizing on a fresh battle with President Donald Trump: a high-stakes gamble over this month’s government funding deadline.
“Party leaders and rank-and-file are publicly projecting a united front, and many Democrats are truly eager for a fight with Trump. But behind the scenes, some are also worried about the party’s exit strategy if Trump and the GOP refuse to cave. They fear that a shutdown could wreak havoc across the country — only for Democrats to ultimately yield to Republicans with nothing in exchange.”
<[link removed]>Democrats have no plan — only obstruction, as Politico <[link removed]> outlines.
“Still, under tremendous pressure from their base to show that they are willing to fight President Donald Trump, Democrats are flirting with a politically risky shutdown without a firm exit plan or even an idea of what victory might look like.”
On Tuesday, at the Bloomsburg Fair, I joined State Representative Robert Leadbeter for the 3rd annual Veterans Ceremony.
This event brings our community together to recognize the men and women who have served our nation. PA State Treasurer Stacy Garrity and Major General John R. Pippy, Adjutant General of Pennsylvania, delivered heartfelt remarks that highlighted the importance of service and sacrifice.
It was a wonderful gathering of veterans, families, and neighbors who came together to show appreciation for all those who have worn the uniform.
After participating in a Rep. Leadbeter’s ceremony recognizing our veterans, I had the opportunity to walk around the fair. It was great to see State Treasurer Stacy Garrity and Superior Court Candidate Maria Battista.
It's always great to meet and discuss the important issues facing our nation and commonwealth.
I’d also like to thank all of the volunteers who helped out at the Columbia County Republican Committee booth and all those who work hard to make the Bloomsburg Fair a success every year.
On Friday, I attended the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce's annual breakfast. It's always a pleasure to join local leaders and businesses that are driving growth in our region.
I was pleased to provide an update on my work in Washington, highlighting the importance of passing a responsible government funding bill, offering tax relief for small businesses, strengthening U.S. manufacturing, and ongoing efforts to secure critical investments for Lycoming County.
Pictured here with members of the Lycoming Engines team, including Shannon Massey, Senior Vice President and General Manager, and Chamber President Jason Fink, who continues to do an outstanding job representing our local business community.
Thank you to everyone who came out today—your work is helping keep Lycoming County and the state of Pennsylvania moving forward.
Later, I joined the Lycoming/Williamsport Chamber Breakfast, which was followed by an informal roundtable with Chamber President Jason Fink, county commissioners, and state legislators.
I always appreciate the opportunity to discuss what’s happening in the county with local leaders. From funding updates to legislative priorities, the focus was on collaboration and making sure we are all working together to serve our communities effectively.
I appreciate Jason facilitating this dialogue and the willingness of all involved to share their concerns and ideas, which help keep Lycoming County moving forward.
I had the opportunity to meet with the leadership team at Discovery Machine, Inc. in Williamsport.
Discovery Machine is a Pennsylvania-based small business making significant contributions to the defense sector. Their team showcased innovative technologies, shared their broader vision for competing in the federal marketplace, and raised important policy issues.
It was a pleasure to hear directly from CEO Anna Griffith, CTO Dr. Todd Griffith, and Director of Operations Molly Lusk. Small businesses like Discovery Machine are critical to strengthening our national security and ensuring Pennsylvania talent is at the forefront of America’s defense capabilities.
In Luzerne County, we had a great evening discussing the priorities that matter most to the 9th Congressional District and the entire state of Pennsylvania.
I was joined by outstanding leaders like Senator Lisa Baker, Senator Dave Argall, and Representative Brenda Pugh. Events like this underscore the importance of collaboration in delivering real results for our communities.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and showed their support. With your continued commitment, we are building momentum and working every day to deliver for the people of Pennsylvania.
Wednesday evening in Berks County, I had the opportunity to engage with great community and business leaders on the key issues facing the 9th District and Pennsylvania as a whole.
I was pleased to be joined by Kathryn Lehman, a candidate for Berks County Court of Common Pleas judge, whose dedication and leadership will be a valuable asset to the people of Berks County.
I truly appreciate everyone who joined us last evening. I had the opportunity to specifically recognize my good friend Brian Clements by presenting him with a challenge coin from President Trump. The commitment and energy from so many of you continue to fuel our work on behalf of the people of Pennsylvania.
On Thursday, I attended an event in support of Tom Mosca for Judge of Luzerne County. Tom has the experience, qualifications, and judicial temperament to serve our county. I encourage everyone in Luzerne County to join me in casting their ballots for Tom Mosca for Judge.
On Friday evening, I joined Stacy Garrity in Lackawanna County at Keith Eckel's Farm for the final stop of her Help Is On The Way Tour. It was great to stand with so many patriots and supporters and hear Stacy share her vision for Pennsylvania as she campaigns for Governor.
Energy was high, the message was clear, and momentum is building; help is on the way for our Commonwealth!
Today, on Gold Star Mothers and Families Day, we honor those who have borne the greatest sacrifice for our Nation’s freedom. The loss of a son, daughter, husband, wife, or parent in service to America leaves an unending void.
Gold Star Families carry that grief with strength and dignity.
Their loved ones paid the ultimate price so that we may live in peace and liberty. We owe them a debt that can never be repaid, but we can and must ensure their sacrifice is never forgotten.
May God continue to bless our nation. I look forward to seeing you soon,
Dan Meuser
