Texas Democrats’ stand gave their cause time to move the needle of public perception. Their battle invigorated a nationwide conversation about how elected leaders can resist America’s anti-democratic turn.

That line really got me, friends.
Because that’s what the special session fight over the GOP’s rigged Congressional maps was really all about. We did not deceive ourselves about the depths that Republicans would sink to or the stranglehold they had on political power in Austin.
But we were hellbent and determined to make a difference in the movement we’re building here, and that meant we needed everyone in the country putting all eyes on what was going on in Austin. Like our Organizing Director Katy reminds us, “Movements take time, and power comes in steps.” That was one BIG step.
Here’s our next step: we’re raising an additional $20,000 by the end of the quarter. This will be our first public filing with the FEC since the showdown in Austin, and the TX GOP and their backers will be combing through these financial documents to see if we have the resources we need to fuel statewide change.
Will you pitch in $25 before Sept 30 so your contribution is counted during this critical moment?
Texas Democrats don’t have the luxury of waiting around for somebody else to do something. It’s on US. And I know we’ll meet this moment with pride.
