I need you to hear me clearly on this: our democracy is under threat.

Not in the abstract. Not someday in the future. Right now.

Voices are being silenced by the administration, people are being disappeared off the streets, court orders are being ignored, the threat of a government shutdown is looming with no negotiations, a president threatening to fire civil servants if Democrats won’t do his bidding — these are all hallmarks of authoritarianism. This is what it looks like when democracy begins to slip away.

And that is why this fight is existential.

We can’t afford to treat government dysfunction, endless shutdowns, mass layoffs, and authoritarian power grabs as “politics as usual.” Because they are not. They are deliberate attempts to weaken the very foundations of our democracy — to make people lose faith, give up, and stop fighting back.

But I will not give up. And I know you won’t either.

I’m not waiting for 2026 to get to the important electoral work that awaits us. We have to get started now, and my team is leading the way in our battleground of PA.
