Monday, September 22, 2025: I was honored on Saturday to speak at the Academy of Independent Pharmacists (AIP) annual convention on St. Simons Island. As a subsidiary of the Georgia Pharmacy Association (GPhA), AIP represents independent pharmacists in communities across the State, and its mission is to ensure the economic viability and security of independent pharmacy. Yesterday, after meeting with a constituent to discuss an immigration issue, I had a live interview on Newsmax after the Charlie Kirk funeral to discuss the funeral and the spiritual revival we are experiencing in this country after this act of political violence. This morning, I have a conference call with the CEO of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company to discuss global healthcare issues. With a focus on oncology, rare diseases, neuroscience, gastroenterology, plasma derived therapies and vaccines, Takeda is one of the top 10 largest pharmaceutical companies in the world by revenue. After a call with members of our staff, I have a live radio interview with my good friend Martha Zoller as we discuss the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) recent accelerated approval of Forzinity (elamipretide), as the first therapy for the progressive and life-limiting ultra rare genetic disease Barth syndrome. Later, I have a conference call with our communications staff to prepare for an upcoming interview.

Wednesday, September 24, 2025: I’m up early and headed to Coolidge in Thomas County in Southwest Georgia. Located between Thomasville and Moultrie, Coolidge was chartered in 1901 and named after a railroad official with the Tifton, Thomasville and Gulf Railroad. Once in Coolidge, I pay a visit to Hurst Boiler, an all-American manufacturer of industrial and biomass boiler systems. With a 350,000+ sq. ft. facility and more than 275 employees, Hurst Boiler offers a wide range of boilers including steam, hot water, multifuel, biomass and water tube models. After a great visit with this family run business, I head to Thomasville where I meet with Mayor Todd Mobley and City Manager Chris White. Also located in Thomas County, Thomasville is known as the “Rose City” for its vibrant downtown and historic charm, featuring well-preserved architecture, the Thomasville Rose Garden, and numerous plantations. Staying in Thomasville, I head to Cone Machinery for a tour of their company founded in 1984 by Amanuel Cone and still run by his sons. The company builds quality sawmill equipment and, throughout their 35 years in business, has been responsible for a long list of innovations that have improved overall sawmill operations. Next, I pay a visit to Thomasville National Bank (TNB) that first opened in 1995 and was started by local people, for local people. This simple philosophy has led to TNB opening numerous locations and enjoying much success. After a great visit, I head to The Ron Evans Agency where I visit with founder Ron Evans, Jr., and his family team to learn more about their successful business that was founded in 2009. Next, I head to Children of Godly Inheritance (COGI) Athletic Company where I am honored to meet founder and president Danny Copeland and his wonderful family. Creator of the Champion’s Certification and a Super Bowl XXVI Champion, Danny Copeland is a certified fitness trainer through the National Strength Professionals Association (NSPA). Founded on Christian values, Danny and COGI have former student-athletes who are currently NFL, NBA and MLB draft choices. After speaking virtually to a group of independent pharmacists and bringing them up to date on pharmacy issues currently being discussed in Congress, I head to the beautiful Glen Arven Country Club in Thomasville where I meet with business leaders from the area.

Next, I head to the South Georgia Medical Center (SGMC) main campus where I meet with Hospital President and CEO Ron Dean and his excellent staff as they bring me up to date on the great work being done here. Afterwards, I head back to our Brunswick district office and, during the drive, I have a call with my communications staff before having a phone interview with CNN to discuss the Charlie Kirk assassination. Once back in our Brunswick District office, I film this week’s edition of Buddy’s Briefing as well as two other videos.
