We simply can't survive without the Amazon rainforest, and it has never been more at risk.

As you read this, unprecedented fires are ravaging the Amazon – more than 74,000 fires this year, an 84% increase from last year. This is an international emergency and a dangerous escalation of the climate crisis.

One ray of hope is that so many around the globe are finally waking up to the severity of this threat. This crisis in the Amazon rainforest is also a crisis for our global climate, and we must act now to save the Amazon before it's too late.

John: PLEASE GIVE MONTHLY AND BECOME AN AMAZON SUSTAINER!

We need your commitment today to support this work – not just in this moment of crisis, but until the Amazon and its indigenous stewards are safe from destruction.

We know the cause of these outrageous acts. They are fueled by the dangerous and racist rhetoric of right-wing president Jair Bolsonaro. We also know how to stop him – by standing with indigenous peoples who resist and by bringing global pressure on those who profit from Amazon destruction.

Our promise to you is to never stop fighting alongside our indigenous allies to defend the Amazon. Will you pledge to support this work every month? It could literally mean everything.

For the Amazon and our shared future,

Leila Salazar-López
Executive Director
