I need you to hear about the reporting from this week:

CBS News Tweet: "A branch of the National Archives released a mostly unredacted version of Democratic Rep. Mikie Sherrill's military records to Nicholas De Gregorio, an ally of Jack Ciattareli, her GOP opponent in the New Jersey governor's race."

CBS News is reporting that the Trump administration improperly released my personal records from my time in the Navy. It’s a shameful attempt to smear my record.

This is a wildly unprecedented — and blatantly illegal — weaponization of the federal government. All part of an effort to ensure that the president’s preferred candidate wins an election.

These military records detail my early life, and go so far as to include my Social Security Number and insurance records. There are supposed to be several layers of checks set up to prevent something like this.

This isn’t just about me. Any member of the United States military that the Trump administration sees as an enemy can have their personal data exposed.

And it’s incredibly dangerous.

Donald Trump and MAGA extremists have shown that they will stop at nothing to defeat me. So I’m asking: please rush a split donation to my campaign and Elissa Slotkin to help me fight back against the attempts to smear my name.
