My father was the first president of Bishop State Community College, and my mother was a librarian. From a young age, they instilled in me the value of service.
After finishing college and law school, I served in the U.S. Army at Fort Benning. I then ran for the Georgia House, Senate, and eventually Congress — all so that I could serve my community further.
