Friend,

Since Donald Trump’s election, concerned Americans have protested, posted online, signed up to run for office, and registered their disagreement with the President via an endless stream of polls. Don’t get me wrong – all of that action since Election Day matters.

But this November, we’ll have the chance to return to the ballot box for the first time since the last election. Let’s send an unmistakable message to the Trump Administration. 

True, President Trump himself won’t be on the ballot. But his party will be, and local candidates aligned with the MAGA agenda are already asking for your vote. Don’t give it to them.

Washington, DC is going to pay close attention to the results of this year’s elections. Will voters stand by a party that has deployed masked agents to grab our neighbors off of the streets? Will voters support the team that’s ripping food stamps away from hungry families and blocking access to reproductive care? Do voters care that the Republican Party has raised their energy bills and increased the cost of healthcare?

Overwhelming support for our local Democratic candidates will remind the Republican Party that the policies imposed by the Trump Administration are deeply unpopular. Despite Trump’s blustering, we don’t live under a dictatorship, and Republicans in Congress will soon face voters in their own re-election campaigns. Strong Democratic turnout this November might inspire them to stop rubber-stamping President Trump’s unpopular agenda.

A rejection of local GOP candidates this November will go a long way toward striking fear in the minds of my Republican colleagues in Congress. Let’s make it happen.
