Our current Republican leadership has made one thing perfectly clear: their priority is disorder, not democracy. Here are just a few examples of their abuses of power and alarming march toward fascism:
- Government shutdowns are imminent under the GOP. Even though they control every major branch of the government, Republicans' extremism and chaos continue as they consistently drag us towards reckless shutdown after reckless shutdown. They propose such dire, authoritarian, and straight-up absurd budgets that they themselves can’t even pass them. Their intent to serve the 1% at the expense of the rest of us could not be more obvious.
- Free Speech is under attack by this administration and the Republicans who stand behind Donald Trump. From the FCC making direct threats to media figures to the Vice President calling for folks to lose their jobs for their opinions — Trump and his administration's actions are taking a page right out of the dictator’s playbook and bringing a chilling effect to free speech.

- Fascism is already HERE. It’s time to call a spade a spade. This is not democracy — it’s a full-blown fascist takeover.
I founded AWP because I know what’s at stake when extremists take the reins of power — and with each passing day, we’re seeing the seriousness of this threat. I need more Democrats in Congress by my side who will not back down in the face of this corruption and dysfunction.
We need to be unified, we need to be prepared, and we need to protect America from Trump’s fascist agenda and the lawmakers using their seats in Congress to do his bidding. But to build that bench, we have to act now.
