Team, I learned this week that the Trump administration illegally released my private military records to my opponent’s team. Here’s what I had to say about it on Morning Joe:

It’s clear that Donald Trump and Jack Ciattarelli are desperate and will stop at nothing to try to win this race. That’s chilling. And it’s a dark preview of how Ciattarelli would operate as governor — when he’d have access to millions of New Jerseyans’ private information — if we don’t defeat him.

This issue is bigger than one person’s records or one election, folks. What we are seeing today from Donald Trump and his allies like Ciattarelli is the wholesale weaponization of government at every level — because if the government is willing to break the law and expose my private information, then no veteran’s information is safe.

Let me be clear about this: at a minimum, veterans who serve this country deserve to know that the federal government will not expose deeply personal information to the public for any reason, let alone for political gain.

Team, when the Trump administration weaponizes the federal government against political opponents, their goal is to scare people from speaking out and fighting back. But I will never stop doing exactly that. Because I love our state and our country too much. And simply put, I’ve never run away from a tough fight, and I’m not going to start now.
