Here’s what you need to know about the political landscape in North Carolina:
GOP General Assembly Gridlock:
Far-right lawmakers are engaged in political infighting that’s preventing us from doing the real work of legislating. Meanwhile, the GOP is just one vote short of a legislative veto-proof supermajority.
We have to flip seats from red to blue to make sure the legislature gets back to work for the people of North Carolina.
2026 Battleground:
Our former Governor Roy Cooper is locked in a toss-up race for the United States Senate against a GOP candidate handpicked by Donald Trump.
National Republicans are rallying around Michael Whatley, and we’re already seeing an influx of outside cash pour into our state. There is no doubt this will give a boost to GOP candidates at every level of the ballot.
Gerrymandering:
Republican lawmakers passed extreme partisan gerrymanders of our State Senate and congressional maps, effectively preventing Democrats from having any real chance of winning elections.
This is the playbook they’re using all across the country, but the GOP found their footing right here in North Carolina. We have to show them they can’t get away with playing politics with our elections.
