Happy National Public Lands Day, folks!

John Hickenlooper here, and I wanted to leave you with a cautionary message to mark the day. It’s not too long, so please take a moment to read it through!

Listen, you probably already know this, but Colorado’s public lands are a big part of what makes our state so special. It’s no secret that outdoor recreation drives our economy, sustains our lifestyle, and provides countless chances to enjoy our state’s natural beauty.

From Rocky Mountain National Park to the White River National Forest, we are all stewards of these incredible places, and that means all of us are responsible for protecting these national treasures for future generations.

A beautiful mountain range

But unfortunately, not all politicians in Washington see our public lands the same way. Some Republican lawmakers have tried time after time to carve up our land for private development or auction it off to the highest bidder. Most even deny the scientific reality of climate change and vote against critical protections for the environment.

That’s not just a threat to our natural habitats — selling out our environment hurts rural communities, our recreational economy, and everyone who calls the great state of Colorado home.

We’ve fought off their attacks on our public lands before, so I promise you this: I will never, EVER back down from defending ALL of our public lands — whether here in Colorado or anywhere in the nation.

So if you share the same appreciation for our national parks and forests as I do, I hope you’ll take a moment and throw a couple bucks our way. We’re facing a tough FEC deadline in just a few days, so anything you can spare will help us meet our fundraising goals and keep pushing forward to protect the great outdoors from GOP attacks →
