At the start of September, Justice Democrats endorsed Angela Gonzales-Torres, our second 2026 Democratic primary candidate, in her race to oust AIPAC and corporate-backed Rep. Jimmy Gomez — and it made a lot of buzz:

Incumbent Rep. Jimmy Gomez got to Washington, DC, and closed the door behind him. To advance his political career, he began prioritizing his corporate, millionaire, and billionaire donors over the working-class people back home in Los Angeles.

As Angie told The Los Angeles Times, “I think that Angelenos want to see change. And what we are seeing is our current Congress member accepting $2.3 million from AIPAC, then failing to co-sponsor the only bill calling for a ceasefire. And what we are seeing is Jimmy Gomez taking, you know, $500,000 from crypto lobbies, then voting to further Trump’s corrupt crypto agenda.”

Angela, a true working-class champion, is taking Jimmy on to bring unbought leadership to CA-34 that will fight back against Trump's fascism with the urgency it demands and deliver REAL change for her community.

Taking on a powerful incumbent with the establishment and a corporate-fueled war chest behind them is no easy feat. Progressives have tried and failed to unseat Jimmy before — but this time, Justice Democrats is getting in the race because we believe in Angie, and we know this grassroots movement can overcome the onslaught of megadonor and super PAC spending to send her to Congress.
