Salazar U.S. Representative (FL-27) Coastal Wetlands Restoration Project Moves Forward in Cutler Bay Cutler Bay, FL – This week I spent the day in the amazing community of Cutler Bay in my district, learning about the Coastal Wetlands Project, which will improve drinking water quality and is a key part of the restoration of our Florida Everglades. I was able to tour the Cutler Bay Coastal Wetlands Project, alongside town officials and representatives from the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD). The project is designed to restore the natural flow of freshwater into Biscayne Bay, improve water quality, revive wetland habitats, and make South Florida stronger against saltwater intrusion and rising seas. The Cutler Bay Coastal Wetlands Project is vital to South Florida's future. It is not only a key component of the Everglades Restoration Plan, but it also protects Biscayne Bay and secures our water supply. Touring it firsthand ensures federal dollars are being used effectively and delivering the results our community deserves. Your Federal Dollars at Work: Marlin Road Upgrades in Cutler Bay I am proud to have secured $4.4M for Cutler Bay’s Marlin Road Improvement Project! This funding was secured through the FY2023 Consolidated Appropriations Act. This funding will reduce congestion, improve public safety, and enhance mobility by adding crosswalks, sidewalks, bike lanes, and pedestrian lighting along Marlin Road. Infrastructure is about protecting families and improving quality of life. The Marlin Road project will make this corridor safer for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists, while also reducing congestion and making daily commutes easier for everyone in Cutler Bay. Growing Support for the Dignity Act Amid Urgent Immigration Challenges This week, I brought together leaders from Miami’s religious, veteran, and community organizations for a roundtable on current immigration challenges and to highlight the growing bipartisan support behind the Dignity Act of 2025. As immigration continues to impact every sector of the economy and daily life, from small businesses and agriculture to construction, healthcare, and education, communities are feeling the strain. Without action, these pressures will intensify, making clear the need for immediate reform. IN THE MEDIA: Press Conference on Immigration and Community Challenges After the roundtable, I held a press conference to underscore the importance of openly discussing the challenges our community faces on immigration and other pressing issues. Speaking directly with the media is part of my commitment to transparency, ensuring that the voices of District 27 are heard beyond Miami and that the urgent need for solutions like the Dignity Act remains at the center of the national conversation. Listening to the Voices of District 27 This week, I had a great meeting with neighbors from Palmetto Bay, Cutler Bay, and Pinecrest! Your input shapes every decision I make. Together, we’re creating a stronger, brighter future for Miami. Securing Justice for Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse This week, Congressman Suhas Subramanyam and I introduced bipartisan legislation to expand access to justice for survivors of child sexual abuse, assault, and trafficking. The Statutes of Limitations for Child Sexual Abuse Reform Act would incentivize states to eliminate civil and criminal statutes of limitations in these cases and would authorize $20 million in grants for states that adopt the reforms. Survivors of child sexual abuse often carry their pain in silence for decades. Too many are denied justice because the clock runs out before they are ready to speak. This bill says loud and clear: time will never protect predators, and the law will never fail survivors again. CASEWORK TESTIMONIALS!
