Victory Fund Announces Latest Endorsements

This week, LGBTQ+ Victory Fund proudly endorsed 40+ candidates for state and local office running in 2025 and 2026 — bringing our total this cycle to 280 endorsed candidates! These leaders are stepping up at a critical moment to fight for equality, reproductive freedom, and our democracy.

Among our newest endorsements are three groundbreaking congressional candidates…

Mike Simmons, currently serving in the Illinois State Senate, made history as the first out LGBTQ+ state senator in Illinois! He has been a steadfast champion for equity, affordable housing, and LGBTQ+ rights.

James Osyf, a Navy veteran and dedicated public servant, is running to bring principled leadership and pragmatic problem-solving to Congress. His campaign is focused on strengthening democracy, protecting freedoms, and ensuring every voice is heard.

Everton Blair, the first out gay member of the Gwinnett County Board of Education, has dedicated his career to expanding educational opportunity. He is now running for Congress to continue fighting for Georgia families and working to build a more inclusive future.

We’re also thrilled to spotlight inspiring leaders stepping up at the local level!

In Atlanta, Delvin Davis is running for City Council as an advocate for equity and justice, determined to make the city more accessible and sustainable for all.

In Providence, RI Matthew McDermott — a former Victory Campaign Board Member — is seeking a City Council seat to strengthen communities through transparency, accountability, and progressive leadership.

In Lynn, Massachusetts, Brenda Ortiz McGrath is running for School Committee to ensure that all young people in her community have the resources and opportunities they deserve.

And in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Sarah Steffen is stepping up for City Council to focus on smart, inclusive development and build a city that works for everyone.

Together, these candidates reflect the diversity and determination of our community. And with your support, they’ll keep breaking barriers and winning races across the country.

New Leaders at Victory Fund

We’re excited to welcome two new leaders to the Victory Fund family!

Daniel Hernandez joins us as Vice President of Political. A multiply-endorsed Victory Fund candidate, Candidate & Campaign Training alum, and former Arizona legislator, Daniel brings more than a decade of LGBTQ+ advocacy, campaign experience, and public service to this role.

Ben Dotson is our new Vice President of Development. With 16+ years in campaigns, digital engagement, and fundraising—including record-breaking success at EMILYs List—Ben knows how to build the resources our candidates need to win. He also served in the Department of Energy under President Obama through Victory Institute’s Presidential Appointments Program.

With Daniel and Ben on board, we’re ready to help even more LGBTQ+ candidates thrive and win.
