Team, the news that pharmaceutical companies are price-gouging sick Americans during a pandemic is both infuriating and unsurprising.

The worst part is that Mitch McConnell is actively letting them get away with it—and he’s being richly rewarded for his efforts through campaign checks. After Mitch blocked legislation to lower prescription drug prices last fall, Big Pharma collectively sent him over $50,000 for his re-election—including $5,000 from the CEO of Gilead.

You may recognize that name, because Gilead is in the news right now for driving up the price of a critical coronavirus drug. They’re charging Americans a THOUSAND dollars more for a typical course of treatment than they charge in other developed countries, despite the fact that their research was largely funded by U.S. taxpayers.

It’s unconscionable to see our senator sell us out to the highest bidder. Some of the most common stories I’ve heard since I launched this campaign are from Kentuckians who, due to the cost of their prescriptions, are forgoing house repairs, declining necessary tests and procedures, and cutting back on medicine in order to make sure they can put food on the table.

Kentuckians need relief, but Mitch isn’t listening: His corruption is complete. He calls in favors for Big Pharma, Big Pharma rewards him with cash, and his constituents suffer. How much longer can this go on?

Mitch brags constantly about how much power he wields in Washington—but if this is how he uses it, it’s time to take that power away.
