On Tuesday, President Donald Trump addressed the United Nations (U.N.) General Assembly in New York, delivering a speech that encompassed a broad range of issues, including global migration, Palestinian statehood, and ongoing international conflicts. President Trump criticized the effectiveness of the global body, stating that “Not only is the U.N. not solving the problems it should. Too often it’s actually creating new problems for us to solve.”
On immigration, President Trump emphasized the need for heightened border security measures across the world, particularly in Europe, warning of the dangers of drug cartels and the chipping away of culture and sovereignty. Trump then went on to address Palestinian statehood, a process he believes would be “too great a reward for Hamas.” Allowing a “state” that would most likely be run by Hamas, a terrorist network that has violent, anti-American views, is not in the best interest of our nation or the global order. President Trump criticized European leaders for their continued reliance on Russian energy sources, emphasizing that purchasing Russian oil only subsidizes Russia in its attacks on Ukraine. In a similar vein, President Trump encouraged world leaders to purchase American oil and gas, highlighting the strategic role the U.S. plays in global energy markets and vowing never to allow global influences to dictate America’s role in producing fossil fuels.
Our world is at an inflection point, and we desperately need leaders who are willing to champion the values that have made our country prosperous and a beacon of hope and liberty for people around the world. I commend President Trump for having the courage to stand up for what is right and what is best for our nation, and I am proud to have him guide our nation toward excellence once again.
