This is the last weekend to participate in the 2025 Season of Maine Deer Spy!
Deer Spy is a community science project that invites all wildlife watchers to be a part of white-tailed deer management in Maine. This project is a fun and productive addition to any other outdoor activity you're already planning for this weekend. All hikers, paddlers, hunters, birdwatchers, leaf peepers, and more can be Deer Spies.
Participation is quick, easy, and rewarding. We are interested in all white-tailed deer observations anywhere in Maine from August 1 through September 30. All you need to do is fill out our online form with the following information.
- Location
- Date and time
- The number of does (adult female deer with no antlers, with or without fawns)
- The number of bucks (deer with antlers)
- The number of fawns (young deer born this year, with or without a doe(s))
It's as simple as that! Send us your sightings this weekend, even if you've never participated before. When you do, you'll supply our biologists with statistics to better understand Maine's white-tailed deer population. The more eyes we have on Maine's deer, the more we can fine-tune management and maintain a healthy herd.
