Carney recently stated that any reduction to the size of the federal bureaucracy will “happen naturally through attrition.”
Here are some facts about the federal bureaucracy:
The federal government added 98,986 employees since 2016, according to the Treasury Board.
The federal bureaucracy cost taxpayers like you $71.1 billion last year, according to the Parliamentary Budget Officer. The bureaucracy cost $40.2 billion in 2016.
That means the cost of the federal bureaucracy increased 77 per cent since 2016.
