Good morning,

This week, I remained in Washington for votes in the House where House Democrats continue to push through legislation that will not pass the Senate and will not be signed into law. House Democrats voted to pass their My Way or the Highway Infrastructure Bill that only shows how much they want radical Green New Deal policies that will hurt hardworking American citizens.

Week in Review

Happy Independence Day!

I want to wish you and your family a very happy Independence Day! Though our celebrations may look a little different this year, we are all truly blessed to live in this wonderful country.

Legislative Update

I recently took the lead on H.R. 3739, the Red Light Act. This legislation will deny federal highway funds to states that provide driver’s licenses or identification cards to illegal immigrants. This is an important bill that takes steps to address our immigration problems and protects our country’s sovereignty, as issuing these driver’s licenses could undermine our national security and lead to voter fraud.

Encouraging Stories

I enjoyed this story about Staff Sgt. Jesse Thurman, who has worked tirelessly to recruit new soldiers and find future leaders for the U.S. Army out of the Anthem Recruiting Station, Phoenix North Recruiting Company. Thurman has served in the Army for 10 years and had previously served overseas in Germany, Afghanistan, and Kuwait. Thank you for your service and thank you for working to bring in other brave men and women who fight to keep us safe and defend our freedoms.

Casework Highlight

A constituent contacted our office because he was paying for his medical costs out of pocket until his annual deductible had been met through his Medicare plan, and he was being overcharged by Banner Hospital. He tried to work with them, but they were never able to resolve the issue. Our office reached out to the Social Security Administration who worked through a network of mutual contacts with Banner to resolve the over payment. The constituent received his check from Banner for the funds owed and thanked us for our assistance.

Coronavirus Casework Highlight

A constituent contacted our office because she did not receive her retroactive unemployment benefits through the Department of Economic Security (DES). When she tried to file, the system told her she had "Active Issues.”  We sent her information to DES and shortly thereafter her benefits were released, and she received her retroactive benefits.
