When people ask me why the fight to flip the Texas House matters so much, I think about what’s happening right now in our communities:
- Republicans drawing maps so rigged that they make it almost impossible for voters, and especially communities of color, to win fair representation.
- $2.5 BILLION going to detention centers while public schools are underfunded and communities are recovering from disasters.
- Free speech hanging perilously in the balance as the FCC overreaches … and now we are seeing college campuses right here in Texas denying voter registration drives

This kind of undemocratic, authoritarian behavior is horrific — and we must come together to stop it. But no matter how hard we speak up and push back right now (and we sure are doing that), the truth is, we don’t have the levers of power to stop it, yet. But with you behind us, we will.
Movements take time, and every step builds towards something bigger. We’ve already proven we can fight back. We’ve already proven we can make national news. But now HAVE to put all our energy into Flipping the House. That’s the lever of power WE NEED to protect Texans.
