Extra Antlerless Deer Permits for Sale
Extra antlerless deer permits not issued through the lottery are available for purchase online only on a first come, first served basis. Extra permits are currently available in WMDs 16, 17, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, and 29.
If you have already purchased an extra permit or have a lottery permit, and need to write down your permit number, please use the Purchased Permit Lookup.
Starting Tuesday, September 30 at 9:30 AM through Saturday, December 13, you may buy up to three extra antlerless deer permits. If you bought an extra permit during the September 16–29 sale, you can only buy two more during this period. If you have a lottery permit, you may hold up to four total permits.
Be prepared and have the following information ready:
-
Name and Date of Birth (Note: If your name or date of birth is misspelled on your current hunting license, you must enter it exactly the same way for the system to recognize you)
-
MOSES ID (optional but highly encouraged - you can find this on your current hunting license)
-
Preferred Wildlife Management Districts (WMDs). Have at least two WMDs in mind in case there are no permits available for your top choice WMD. Find WMD maps at mefishwildlife.com/wmd
- Credit card information
Be patient:
MDIFW has set up a queue system to handle high traffic on September 30.
Starting at 9:30 AM on September 30, you will be entered into the queue when you access the purchase site. The system will release customers in the order they joined so the site doesn’t get overloaded.
If you log in before 9:30 AM, you’ll be placed in a virtual waiting room. At 9:30 AM, everyone in the waiting room will be given a random number and entered into the queue. Entering the waiting room early does not give you an advantage over joining later or exactly at 9:30 AM. If you join after 9:30 AM, you will be placed in the queue in the order you arrive.
If you don’t see a green “Purchase Permit” button by 9:30 AM, refresh your screen or clear your cache!
While in the queue, you’ll see your expected wait time. Be patient! Your chance to purchase will come when it’s your turn.
How to buy:
To purchase your permit online, go to this deer permit purchase website page and click “Purchase Permit” under the Extra Permits section.

Where can I purchase a permit?
Online only on the Antlerless Deer Permit Purchase Site.
How will proceeds from the antlerless deer permit fee be used?
Antlerless deer permits are $12 (plus $2 agent fee to cover administrative costs). Proceeds from this permit will help fund the acquisition and management of deer wintering areas (DWAs), primarily in northern Maine. Read about recent DWA acquisitions here.
How many antlerless deer permits can I purchase?
To give everyone an equal opportunity, MDIFW offers two extra permit sale periods in addition to the lottery:
September 16–29: You may buy one extra antlerless deer permit (first-come, first-served). If you already have a lottery permit, this means you can hold a total of two permits.
September 30–December 13: You may buy up to three extra antlerless deer permits. If you bought an extra permit during the September 16–29 sale, you can only buy two more during this period. If you have a lottery permit, you may hold up to four total permits.
Extra antlerless deer permits can be purchased online anytime between September 16 and December 13, or until sold out.
Who can purchase a permit online?
All hunters, including those who did not apply to the lottery, those who received a permit through the lottery, and those that applied to the lottery but did not receive a permit through the lottery, may purchase an antlerless deer permit online on a first come, first served basis.
I received an Antlerless Deer Permit through the lottery and claimed it. Do I need to use that permit before purchasing another?
No.
I need to purchase a permit on behalf of another hunter, do I need to re-enter the queue a second time?
No. Once you are in the queue and purchase a permit, you can purchase a permit for up to three other hunters without needing to enter the queue again as long as the transaction is complete within 25 minutes.
