Washington Post editorial board: "Republicans are engineering an electoral disaster this fall" |
Friends -- As elected Democrats and citizens of all stripes call for expanded access to mail-in ballots during this public health emergency, many Republican politicians are blocking needed measures:
- Georgia officials are working to restrict vote-by-mail, even after a recent primary election that featured long lines and mass confusion. The Republican-led legislature, packed with members from gerrymandered districts, moved to block absentee ballot applications from being mailed to voters ahead of the general election. Fight back >>
- In Iowa, Republican Governor Kim Reynolds and the legislature decided they didn't like the primary election's record turnout and also restricted the secretary of state from sending absentee ballot applications to all voters. Fight back >>
- And in Texas, Secretary of State Ken Paxton is so against vote-by-mail that he threatened organizations that encourage voters under 65 to request absentee ballots with criminal prosecution. Fight back >>
We're fighting to ensure safe voting access for all Americans, but the GOP is spending $20 million to oppose us. Will you pitch in for fair elections in 2020 (and beyond) and fair redistricting in 2021?
