Road space changes

Broad Street and Heathcote Street

To support the announcements from Central Government that more retail shops, bars and restaurants can operate from the 4th July the Council has been reviewing how these businesses can operate safely.

As part of a package of temporary restrictions across the City Centre, it has been proposed to restrict traffic flows on Broad Street and Heathcoat Street in order to provide additional space for pedestrians, customer queuing and outdoor seating areas.

There will be no vehicle access to areas marked in green - loading will be allowed from 6am-11am only. Areas in red show the increased space available for trading and pedestrians.

By restricting access to vehicles it is hoped that more space will be available for social distancing throughout the entire area.
