Dear john,

I remain focused on the impact that a government shutdown would have on the country, and our district in particular. With less than a week before the funding deadline, Congressional Republicans cancelled votes and sent members home, but I won't give up the fight. Republicans need to work out a deal that lowers costs, protects healthcare, and serves the needs of the American people. I will continue to keep you updated as we approach this deadline, and my office remains a resource to you if you need assistance at any time.

This week, I convened a roundtable discussion with veterans in our district to talk about the top priorities and concerns facing men and women who have served our nation. I am so grateful to the leadership of local American Legion posts and veterans across the district who shared their honest feedback with me and my office. As a member of a military family myself, I will continue to amplify the needs of our veterans to the Department of Veterans Affairs. My colleagues and I must fulfill the promises made to those who served this nation.

This Thursday was the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims. Together with local elected officials and advocates from Marsy's Law for Georgia, I was privileged to stand together in support of victims of homicide. As a mother who lost her son to gun violence, I know firsthand the pain and grief of that loss, and it is my honor to be a champion for families as they seek justice for their loved ones. I want to thank Marsy's Law for Georgia for recognizing my work on these issues in Congress—I will continue to voice my strong support for the Justice for Murder Victims Act.

For students interested in military service, my office is currently accepting applications for military service academy nominations for the class of 2030. Note the October 12th deadline, and visit my nominations webpage for more information. Best wishes to all students as they pursue their goal of attending one of the U.S. Service Academies and serving our country.

Thank you for taking the time to stay up to date with my office. Please stay in touch and do not hesitate to reach out if my staff and I can assist you with any federal issues.

Sincerely,
