From tomorrow (Saturday 4 July) many Coronavirus lockdown restrictions are being relaxed. Here’s some more information on the changes you can expect to see and how you should continue to stay safe.

Local lockdown and Outbreak Control Plan

We know that, following the announcement of a local lockdown in Leicester, there has been a lot of speculation about the possibility of further local lockdowns – with Oldham named as one area that currently has high rates of infection.

While our figures are higher than the Greater Manchester average, our current rate of infection is nowhere near that of Leicester and the number of cases has reduced over the last two weeks. However, we are not being complacent and have put together an Outbreak Control Plan which you can read here ([link removed][UNIQID]) .

Community helpline revised opening hours

As things begin to return to normal, from tomorrow the Oldham community helpline (0161 770 7007) will not be available on Saturdays and Sundays. The helpline will continue to run Monday to Friday. For any emergency situations please, visit [link removed][UNIQID] ([link removed][UNIQID])

Businesses

Food and drink businesses including pubs, restaurants and cafes can reopen, as well as hairdressers, barbers, cinemas and theatres from this weekend.

To reopen, businesses must demonstrate they are Covid-secure and have implemented detailed sector-specific Government guidance. So, we are working closely with our partners to help businesses reopen safely. Neighbourhood police officers are also visiting venues to liaise with landlords and managers.

If you are planning to visit a pub, restaurant or other business, please act responsibly by ensuring you social distance and wash your hands regularly. For more information on the types of businesses allowed to open, click here ([link removed][UNIQID]) .

Places of Worship

Some places of worship are expected to open tomorrow but please check before you attend. Also, remember to social distance when queuing, entering or leaving any faith buildings and please don’t congregate outside.

You may be asked to provide your name and contact details. This is to assist with track and trace.
