On Sunday we mark International Safe Abortion Day...
SAAF grantee partners
Although of course every day is International Safe Abortion Day for SAAF, this Sunday we will join others to focus on the amazing work being done to liberate abortion around the world. Thank you to all the grantee partners we work with for trying to make the world a better place.

This year the theme for the day is 'Safe Abortion is Life-Saving Healthcare' and we've published a new blogpost which reflects on this. You can, as always, find it on our website in English, French and Spanish
Abortion saves lives (in more ways than one)
L’avortement sauve des vies (de plusieurs façons)
El aborto salva vidas (en más de un sentido)
What does it mean to ‘save a life’?
'Sometimes we need abortions to survive, but we also need them to thrive.'
"By providing the option of ending a pregnancy safely, we can avert the unnecessary deaths and physical harms which result in hospitalisation and sometimes life-long disabilities and infertility. But we can also save a life by enabling that person to live the life they choose. To finish their education, to escape a violent relationship, to succeed in their chosen career. To be happy, to live the life they want. Yes, abortion saves lives. It also changes lives.

We should be able to end pregnancies for our own reasons, under any circumstances, not just when our life is in immediate danger. We have a right to choose if and when we have children, and what sort of life we want to live. Somehow that still seems to be a radical proposition across so much of the world.

SAAF stands in solidarity today, and every day, with those who are brave enough to fight for abortion rights, and our right not just to survive but to thrive."
