What a very odd six months it's been. I'm not going to wax poetic about how COVID-19 has flipped life upside down, because if your inbox is anything like mine, you've had plenty of that since about March.

I wanted to check in and give y'all some updates on what Room for All has been up to. I stepped into the Executive Director role on March 1st, and needless to say, I'm deeply grateful to the Board of Directors and our community for your support and patience as I got my "sea legs." It hasn't been easy, but this work never is. It has, as always though, been fulfilling. Room for All's aim of a denomination that affirms and celebrates queer identities continues to be a compelling vision for me and many others!

I had hoped to have this email out to you before the end of Pride Month. I decided to hold off as the RCA was given plenty of things to consider over the last few days. One of those was the final report from the 2020 Vision Team.
You can find that report here ([link removed]) . There is certainly much about this piece that doesn't come as a surprise, but Room for All is proactively working on how we can respond and continue to reclaim Scripture and the Book of Church Order from those that seek an exclusionary church.

One of the biggest decisions RfA has made over the last few weeks is that we will not be holding our typical capital campaign fundraiser this fall! We are aware that so many individuals and congregations are in a place of financial uncertainty- we're able to offer this relief to our community and are proud to do so. We are exploring other smaller virtual fundraiser options that you'll see pop up later this summer and into the fall; we're excited to continue to engage with our affirming community, and know that for now, this has to be done from a safe (digital) distance. We've also opted to move some of our "normal" Pride engagement (including RfA Sunday resources!) to October 2020, which also happens to be LGBTQIA History Month.

Below, take a look at a few of the other items we've been working on: RfA's statement of support for the Black Lives Matter movement (thanks to board member Darren Major for his help in compiling the included resources) and a written history of RfA by our archivist Mary Kansfield.

Blessed to be in this work for and with you all,
Cameron
