Dear A.,

President Trump laid out a 21-point plan to end the war in Gaza in a meeting yesterday with the leaders of various Arab and Muslim countries on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

Today, U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met in New York with Prime Minister Netanyahu to discuss the plan.

The main principles of the plan, Axios' Barak Ravid

reported , include:
-
Hamas releasing all the remaining hostages.

-
A permanent ceasefire.

-
Gradual Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.

-
Ensuring Hamas is not involved in governing Gaza.

-
A security force including Palestinians and soldiers from Arab and Muslim countries.

-
Funding from Arab and Muslim countries to help rebuild Gaza.

-
Some involvement of the Palestinian Authority.
Trump also reportedly told the Arab and Muslim leaders that he won't allow Israel to annex the West Bank, following talks with Netanyahu on the subject.

The plan was reportedly well received at the meeting, and the leaders of seven of the countries in attendance issued a statement of support:

"We reaffirm our commitment to cooperate with President Trump and emphasize the importance of his leadership in order to end the war and open horizons for a just and lasting peace."

Meanwhile, in his address to the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday, Trump made clear where the blame for the ongoing war lies:

"Unfortunately, Hamas has repeatedly rejected reasonable offers to make peace. We can't forget October 7th, can we? Now as if to encourage continued conflict, some of this body is seeking to unilaterally recognize a Palestinian state. The rewards would be too great for Hamas' terrorists for their atrocities. This would be a reward for these horrible atrocities including October 7th, even while they refused to release the hostages or accept to cease fire... those who want peace should be united with one message, release the hostages now. Just release the hostages now."

President Trump reiterated this point in a press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron, who recently recognized a Palestinian state.

IDF continues to dismantle Hamas in Gaza

Over the past 24 hours, the Israeli Air Force has struck over

170 terrorist targets across the Gaza Strip, as the IDF continues to operate in Gaza City to dismantle Hamas' terror infrastructure, including weapons storage facilities and other sites.

Meanwhile, the IDF released new footage showing Hamas terrorists using hospitals as a hiding place, while shooting at IDF soldiers.

Today, 21-year-old Staff Sgt. Chalachew Shimon Demalash was killed in a Hamas sniper attack in Gaza.

May his memory be a blessing.

Hamas could end the war today if it would lay down its arms, release the hostages, and surrender. Instead, it is prolonging the suffering of Israelis and Palestinians alike.

responded with some 20 fighter jets dropping more than 65 munitions on Houthi targets in Sanaa -- marking the largest number of munitions used in a single IAF strike in Yemen.

In all, seven Houthi military targets in Sanaa were hit: five military headquarters where Houthi operatives were gathered and two weapons storage facilities.

MK Benny Gantz op-ed: "What the World Gets Wrong About Israel"

Israeli opposition MK Benny Gantz
[link removed]
wrote an op-ed in The New York Times discussing what the world gets wrong about Israel's war against Hamas in Gaza.
"Too often, Western leaders view our policies in this war not through the lens of national security, but through the prism of individuals — and, in particular, Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu."

"There are deep political divisions and disagreements in Israel. I myself have been a vocal critic of Mr. Netanyahu. But the nation’s core security interests are not partisan property… Any path forward for broader Palestinian civil autonomy must first incorporate a proven long-term track record of accountable governance, comprehensive de-radicalization reforms and a successful crackdown on terror elements targeting Israelis."

"After Oct. 7, it was not politics that shaped Israel’s military response. It was necessity… I pressed for an immediate ground operation in Gaza. I called for a stronger and faster ground offensive in Rafah despite the international pressure… And still today, I fully support retaining an Israeli military presence in Gaza long term to prevent Hamas from ever regrouping by maintaining a military presence on the entire Gaza perimeter. The war could end tomorrow if the hostages were returned and Hamas relinquished its weapons and power."

Humanitarian leader praises GHF after returning from Gaza

Ken Isaacs, a senior leader at humanitarian aid organization Samaritan’s Purse, recently returned from Gaza where he observed the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’s (GHF) work on the ground,
[link removed]
writing about it in The Washington Post:

"What I saw was not a textbook distribution — because no textbook exists for a war zone such as Gaza, where terrorist combatants hide among civilians. Instead, I saw GHF using unconventional means to successfully deliver food to civilians on a staggering scale under nearly impossible circumstances. It wasn’t perfect, but it was good."

The GHF’s job is extremely challenging because of the ongoing threat posed by Hamas. "In crowds that can number in the tens of thousands, potentially infiltrated by Hamas terrorists, steady leadership and situational control are essential. I watched GHF teams, … manage huge crowds with total professionalism," Isaacs wrote.

While the GHF has distributed over 167 million meals and prevented Hamas from stealing the aid it delivers, the U.N. says that 82% of its trucks have been "intercepted."

"The people of Gaza would be better served by the U.N. coordinating with GHF to expand the delivery of humanitarian assistance effectively."

"What is needed: less ideology and more courage; less bureaucratic sclerosis and more moral clarity. Don’t let the pursuit of humanitarian perfection become the enemy of the practical good."
