Yesterday, the BC Greens chose Emily Lowan as their new leader.

From the very beginning, Greens have entrusted women with leadership — and they’ve delivered. Adriane Carr co-founded the BC Greens in 1983, building a political home when the old parties failed to protect our forests and our future. Elizabeth May broke through federally, becoming the first Green MP and setting a new standard for integrity and effectiveness in Parliament. Sonia Furstenau led the BC Greens through a historic balance-of-power moment, proving a small caucus can punch far above its weight. And now Emily Lowan has brought her vision and coalition-building skills to the BC Greens, inspiring thousands who are hungry for principled politics.

While other parties still struggle to elevate women to leadership, Greens have shown again and again that we choose leaders who speak with moral clarity, who put principle ahead of calculation, and who inspire people to believe that politics can be better.

This proud tradition of principled leadership sets Greens apart. To keep building on it federally, we need to show our strength, and now is the moment to do it.

We’ve set a goal to raise $15,000 before midnight on Sept. 30th. If 150 people give $100, we’ll get there. Will you be one of the 150?
