Hi,

Congress is debating a measure that could leave children, farmworkers, and families across America more vulnerable to harmful pesticides.

Section 453 of the Interior Appropriations Bill would give pesticide manufacturers a free pass — shielding them from liability even when their products cause harm.

Send a letter telling your lawmakers to oppose Section 453. <[link removed]>

Children are especially at risk because they take in more pesticide per pound of body weight and their developing organs are more sensitive.1 Farmers face high exposures on the job even when following standard safety practices;2 their exposure remains measurable and is linked to elevated risks of cancer, organ damage, and other chronic conditions. And all of us are exposed daily through our food and water. Glyphosate, the world’s most widely used herbicide, has been classified as “probably carcinogenic to humans” by the WHO’s cancer agency.3 And a recent study found cancer in animals exposed to glyphosate at doses considered “safe” by the EU.4

When your child gets sick from pesticides, Section 453 ensures the companies that poisoned them face zero consequences.

We cannot allow Congress to strip away our right to know the potential risks of chemicals and to seek justice when we are harmed by them.Tell your members of Congress to oppose Section 453 and keep our communities safe. <[link removed]>

In solidarity,

Kathleen Rogers
