TELL CONGRESS: Trump plans to rollback regulations that protect the forests surrounding
Yellowstone and many other national parks. If he succeeds, road
construction, logging, and oil and gas projects will destroy forests, harm
wildlife, and threaten water sources. Congress must stop this destruction. Sign the petition: Stop Trump's rollback of federal forest protections!

Trump’s Department of Agriculture is pushing a rollback of federal
protections for national forests that surround Yellowstone National Park
and many of America’s other parks.^1 And a decision could be imminent.
A federal regulation called the “Roadless Rule” has been in place for over
two decades to protect tens of millions of acres of national forests from
destruction.^2 Trump wants to get rid of the rule and destroy the forests
around Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Yosemite, and other national parks —
posing a direct threat to biodiversity, wildlife, clean water, and the
environment writ-large.^3
Congress must act now to protect national forests from destruction at the
hands of corporate profiteers and the White House.

Local tribes are also opposed to this rollback and the further destruction
of their lands. “You cannot separate us from the land,” said President
Gloria Burns, Ketchikan Indian Community. “We depend on Congress to update
the outdated and predatory, antiquated laws that allow other countries and
outside sources to extract our resource wealth. This is an attack on
Tribes and our people who depend on the land to eat. The federal
government must act and provide us the safeguards we need or leave our
home roadless.”^4
Not only would Trump’s rollback harm water sources, tribes, wildlife, and
biodiversity, it would also cost taxpayers money to fund the bulldozing of
forestland for federal roadbuilding.^5
Trump ending the Roadless Rule would be an environmental travesty, an
attack on national parks, and a rebuke of local tribes and advocates.
Congress must act to save 45 million acres of national forests.
