On Saturday, we commemorate one of the most important days in American history: Independence Day. In addition to lighting fireworks with our families and grilling with friends, July 4 is a testament to the 243 years of freedom wrought by the American experiment. 

President Ronald Reagan famously said: “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.”

His words still hold true today.

It is worth taking a break from the festivities of the Independence Day holiday, even for just a few moments, to think about what America means to you, and to reflect on the courage, bravery, and sacrifice of those men and women who have given their blood, sweat, and tears to defend and protect it.

I hope you and your loved ones have a wonderful Independence Day.

ECONOMIC RECOVERY

On Thursday, the Labor Department released its monthly jobs report. Much like last month, the report was far better than economists had predicted. 4.8 million jobs were added in June — the largest monthly gain on record, and beating predictions by a whopping 1.7 million jobs. Furthermore, unemployment has dropped an additional 2.2% since just last month. As America continues reopening, it’s great to see the economy getting back on track!
