John — You might have seen just a few days ago when Karen Handel was caught on tape agreeing with a supporter who said I should “get off of” speaking about the death of my son. Then Karen dismissed our fight for a safer America by saying: “In Congress you have to be able to look at issues beyond just your person.”
When asked about it by the media — Karen’s team claimed to express “great sympathy and compassion” for my loss.
Well, I have a message for you, Karen Handel — I don’t want your sympathy, I want action.
I want families to stop getting ripped apart by gun violence.
I do this work because no family should have to sit around the dinner table and stare at an empty chair. No family should be forced to mourn the death of a loved one at every holiday and birthday, and no family should be forced to be represented by a person who puts the profits of the gun lobby over human life.
Make no mistake, Karen Handel has an “A” rating from the NRA.
I will never stoop this low because I know the stakes of our gun safety fight. I know the stakes all too well. I ran because for too long, I watched legislators like Karen Handel promise to take action, yet none came. So I decided to run for office myself.
So let me make one thing clear — I don’t want anyone’s sympathy. I want action.
