I wanted to take a moment to give a huge thank you to everyone who contributed ahead of our FEC fundraising deadline. It was a tough month, but we hit our goal and it was because grassroots supporters like you stepped up with online contributions in the final week. We are so appreciative.

Now for a quick update:

You may recall that last year I formed a San Onofre Task Force made up of local stakeholders and experts. The task force was chaired by U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Chairman Gregory Jaczko and Rear Admiral Len Hering, USN (Ret.).

That task force just released an initial report and recommendations for how to protect against the negative effect of storing the waste.

This report will help inform future legislation I introduce alongside the Spent Fuel Prioritization Act to make sure San Onofre is designated as a priority site so we can remove the waste storage as quickly and safely as possible.
