The 4th of July is just around the corner, friend!

But this year, it’s bound to look a little different. Though we’re all craving some normalcy and good times, COVID-19 is still here. We’ve seen recent spikes in cases across the country — so we must remain vigilant to protect ourselves, our loved ones, and our community.

The best way to stay safe is to celebrate at home. If you do choose to go out, remember to listen to any information from the Center for Disease Control and your local health agencies; and practice safety first. Here are some important reminders:
  • Wear a mask. If your old mask broke or got lost, you can easily make a mask by using a star-spangled bandana (or any cloth) and some hair ties! Here are instructions on how to do it. When everyone wears a mask, we can prevent spreading the virus by up to 80%.
  • Keep a safe distance. Even as states ease stay-at-home orders, we must protect ourselves and our community by continuing to maintain six-feet from people who live in different households.
  • Avoid shared foods and shared surfaces. We know the 4th isn’t the same without a cookout — while we encourage you to stay home, if you must, be sure to bring your own supplies and properly wipe down shared surfaces.
  • Wash your hands. This is super important, especially if you’re eating. Wash long and wash often. If you’re away from running water, use hand sanitizer frequently.
  • Read more for specifics. Whether you’re having a cookout, traveling to see people, or going to a park, check out the CDC’s recommendations for all kinds of social activities.
If you’re taking some needed time to rejuvenate, please remember that we all have a duty to keep one another safe. These guidelines aren’t just for your safety but for everyone’s.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July,
Team Tom
