Just hours before it was set to end, Florida’s eviction moratorium was extended by Gov DeSantis.

Every month the pattern is the same, Gov DeSantis causes undue stress to thousands of financially precarious Floridians by waiting until hours before the deadline to extend the moratorium. This when Floridians need the security of their homes the most. This is not how leaders should act.

If the eviction moratoriums are lifted all at once Florida would see a flood of homeless seniors, families with children, and individuals. All while Florida sets new highs for COVID-19 cases almost every day and sees record highs in unemployment with more than 170,000 Floridians waiting for their unemployment claims to be verified.

A change in Tallahassee is critical to stabilize the lives and futures of Floridians.
