Broad Energy Industry Coalition Encourages PJM to Continue to Examine Carbon Pricing in its Electricity Market

Screen Shot 2020-06-30 at 3.20.01 PM (1)As U.S. policymakers look for cost-effective ways to tackle climate change, a diverse coalition of power generators, trade associations, and think tanks last week sent a letter encouraging PJM to continue its examination of the policy options and implications of carbon pricing in its market. The request comes at a time when many states in PJM either have, or are considering, policies that reduce carbon emissions in the electric sector and are grappling with how best to reconcile those policies with wholesale markets. Click here to continue reading the press release>

Smart Energy Decisions: What COVID Means for Energy Goals and Sustainability Efforts, Today and Tomorrow

Screen Shot 2020-07-02 at 2.14.01 PMSmart Energy Decisions published AEE's Caitlin Marquis' column about key issues in keeping corporate clean energy and sustainability programs going forward during the COVID-19 crisis: "As companies adjust to a new normal during COVID-19, develop strategies to ride out the economic storm, and navigate various state reopening schedules and rules, sustainability teams face their own challenge: assessing whether and how the coronavirus pandemic and its economic fallout will affect progress toward their company’s renewable energy and greenhouse gas reduction goals." How Energy Efficiency and Demand Response are Turning Electricity Supply and Demand Upside Down – and Saving Money

IssueBrief EE & DR-730In the last decade, technology has changed nearly every facet of our lives. We’ve traded in touch-tone phones for smartphones, replaced cabs with ride sharing apps, and upgraded bulky desktops for sleek laptops. While technology has changed life in so many dramatic ways, less obvious, but no less dramatic is the way technological advancements have changed the way we use electricity. Most notable is the way technology has allowed us to gain control over electricity demand, through energy efficiency and demand response. The challenge now is to make sure that newfound power to reduce and manage demand gets fully utilized in wholesale electricity markets. Click here to continue reading the blog post>

A New Assembly Line: Opportunities for Jobs and Economic Growth in the Electric Transportation Supply Chain

Recorded on Tuesday, June 30th

PA Webinar Graphic Final

Across the country and around the world, consumers, municipalities, and private-sector companies are turning to electric vehicles (EVs) as their primary mode of transportation, spurring significant potential for growth in the supply chain for EVs and charging equipment. This webinar pulled from AEE’s recent report, Electric Transportation Supply Chain in Pennsylvania, prepared by BW Research Partnership, which finds a robust supply chain in formation in the state. The report also finds that more than 350 Pennsylvania firms, many of them in industries and geographies that have seen declines in recent years, could transition to serving the supply chain for electric vehicles. As Pennsylvania, like many other states, considers economic recovery strategies following the COVID-19 public health crisis, the opportunity to capitalize on electric transportation growth deserves attention from policymakers. Our panel of industry experts provided their perspectives on this opportunity for the Keystone State and looked at how this could play out in other states.

Panelists:

  • Sarah Olexsak, Manager, Transportation Electrification, Duquesne Light Company
  • Phil Jordan, Vice President, and Principal, BW Research Partnership
  • John Vernacchia, Segment Manager, Renewable Energy, North America Sales, Electrical, Eaton
  • Prasanna Srinivasan, Manager, Business Development & Marketing, Parker LORD
  • Matt Stanberry, Managing Director, Advanced Energy Economy (Moderator)
