Dear Friend --
One of my top priorities is to ensure outstanding public safety services and that includes restoring resources lost in the recession of 2008. This week we learned that, thanks to Measure A, we are on track to restore Fire Engine 17 in east Long Beach by this October.
If you live within the red lines in the picture below, you will see an improvement in response times. These investments also free up resources elsewhere, which improves emergency services citywide.

Engine 17 joins other fire service restorations, including paramedic services in North Long Beach, and Engine 8 in Belmont Shore, which we lost ten years ago.
My thanks to Fourth District Councilman Daryl Supernaw for his partnership and also to our Fire Chief Xavier Espino for his department’s hard work on this restoration. I am committed to continuing to use Measure A funds exactly how we promised– to repair infrastructure and to improve public safety.
