Description: Late summer is a great time to find a variety of butterflies in our region. Join Larry Meade for a workshop in the field where we will find and learn how to identify various butterflies. We will also learn about their host plants and migration patterns. While butterflies will be the main focus of our trip, we will also pay attention to birds, dragonflies, reptiles and whatever else we find interesting. It’s advisable that participants bring binoculars, water, field guides, and insect repellent.
Instructor: Larry Meade is President of the Northern Virginia Bird Club, and a former Board member of the Virginia Society of Ornithology. He has served as a Sector Leader for a number of years for several of our local Christmas Bird Counts and is an avid nature photographer.
Fee: Free, but registration ([link removed]) is required
Group Limit: 15 participants
