Membership Month

July is Membership Month!

We are excited to share the progress we've made, highlight some of the members who make this community special, and make our case for why you should join us in speaking up for transit riders. Become a member today!

Just this week, we won a HUGE victory for transit riders in San Francisco: the SFMTA board approved new emergency transit-only lanes that will make Muni faster and more reliable. Our advocacy was essential in convincing them to move forward on these projects.

This win would not have been possible without our members. Member participation, advocacy, and of course donations are what make it possible to truly move the needle on transit in San Francisco. We will keep fighting to ensure rider and operator safety, true transit priority, and equitable funding sources for Muni.

Membership Month, like most things, will look a little different in 2020. We will share updates and reach out virtually rather than in person - even though we can't hop on the bus together just yet, we hope you'll join us!

Approved! New Transit-only Lanes

On Tuesday, the SFMTA board voted to approve emergency transit-only lanes along the 14 Mission, 19 Polk, 43 Masonic, and 44 O’Shaughnessy. These projects will make a transformative difference to riders across the city. They also move us closer to our vision of a network of rapid bus lines that get you across the city in 30 minutes by 2030.

San Francisco Transit Riders lead the public support for this effort, generating over thirty public comments, almost 300 petition signatures, and engaging with community and neighborhood groups across the city to support this effort.

This is just the first set of many transit-only lanes we need across the city. To get there, we'll need support from the entire Board of Supervisors as well as community and merchant groups in all eleven districts. Members and volunteers will be pivotal in building that political support for transit over the next few months.

Sign up below to get involved in our advocacy for a visionary network that serves all San Franciscans.

Transit Rider Forum

Join us next Thursday, July 9, for a transit rider forums co-hosted by San Francisco Transit Riders. The webinar will focus on rider health and safety. We want to hear directly from riders what it’s been like to use transit during COVID-19, and understand what’s most important to riders as we look to rebuild our system.
