John,
You may have heard that the Minneapolis Public Schools voted to end their contract with the police. But what you may not know is the director on the school board who pushed forward the resolution is a Run for Something alum -- Josh Pauly.
There is no one action that can fix centuries of systemic racism or institutional biases. But every little step forward helps, driven by good people committed to building a better, more just and equitable future.
Josh Pauly is one of many folks doing just that. By working with students, community activists, and school board members, the Minneapolis Public School Board is showing us a better way. It's a great step to empowering vulnerable kids to feel safe in school, and it's a great example of how to listen and act on the will of the people.
Josh recently had an op-ed published in Teen Vogue about how MPSB came to this decision. If you've got the time, you should check it out and share it on social media.
Electing young progressives is effective and vital to the future we're fighting for -- Josh is a testament to that. (And as Josh notes in his piece -- Tay Anderson, another RFS alum, led and won the same fight in Denver, too.)
I hope this story reminds you of how important our work together is.
When Run for Something candidates win, people win.
Thank you,
Amanda Litman
